Biography

Annelies Verbeke

Annelies Verbeke (b. 1976) knew from the age of five that she wanted to write a novel and spent her childhood creating fairytales. More than twenty years later De Geus published her first novel, Slaap!. The book was well received, sold well and has since been published in many languages. It won the Flemish First Novel Prize and the Gouden Ezelsoor. In 2006 she published her second novel, Reus. Apart from this she has written regularly for De Standaard newspaper, an article of hers appears every two weeks in NRC Handelsblad, and she writes a 'LOST' for the book supplement of De Morgen newspaper every month.
